Snap it — and if the photo got it wrong, just say so

A photo gets the meal in; a sentence fixes what it missed. Plus: share your day with a friend or your nutritionist.

EatBeat photo scanner recognising the dishes on a plate

Logging a meal in EatBeat starts with a photo: the app recognises the dish and estimates the portion. A photo is an estimate, not a lab measurement — sauces hide, portions vary, and sometimes the camera sees rice where there is quinoa.

Over the summer of 2026 we made fixing that as quick as taking the picture.

Say what’s wrong

Since versions 1.4.20 and 1.4.21 (July 2026) you can tell the app what it got wrong in plain words — “it’s quinoa, not rice”, “half the portion” — and the meal is corrected. Version 1.4.30 (August 2026) lets you correct anything recognised simply by typing.

Share your day

The same release added sharing: send your day’s achievements to a friend, or to your coach or nutritionist, without screenshots.

Still no typing by default

The point of a photo food diary is that you don’t search a database for every ingredient. The correction is there for when it matters; most of the time the photo is enough. Free users get 7 photo scans a day; Premium makes them unlimited.
